Description:

Assist the Resource Sharing Department with organizing and processing new books, gift books, and media materials, data entry, shelving, record keeping, and other duties as assigned. Other special projects as assigned can include, but are not limited to, shifting books and will require the ability to lift and carry materials.

Procedures include, but are not limited to:
* Physical processing of books and other library materials, including stamping and marking, applying anti-theft strips, printing and applying call number labels.
* Covering hardcover book jackets with a protective cover.
* Updating item records in the library catalog.
* Retrieval of items from library stacks.
Qualifications:
- The requirements listed below include the equipment and knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and careful organization are highly desirable. Student assistants are provided on-the-job training in the use of the Koha library system.
- Must be dependable, punctual, self-motivated, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and able to work with or without direct supervision.
- Completion of INFO 1010 with a grade of B- or better is required for employment. May be taken during the first semester of employment if not already completed.
- Physical Requirements:
- The requirements listed below include physical abilities required to complete essential duties.
- Must be able to physically lift and carry approximately 25 lbs.
- Ability to push and pull wheeled carts full of books.
- Ability to distinguish call numbers on spines of books.
- Ability to bend and reach books from shelves of differing heights.
